On A Rainy Day is a track composed as a tribute to Saloon piano from the 19th century.
Ragtime piano is the type of music heard in most Hollywood Western movies. This style of music, however, did not appear in American saloons until the late 19th century. Before this, there was a style of music called “Parlor” music which was influenced by Scottish, Irish, and English as well as classical music. Parlor music was heard at saloons and cantinas all over the country. We decided to compose music in the Ragtime style instead of the lesser-known parlor music. The Upright Piano was the predominant instrument found in saloons and cantinas. Some pianos had thumbtacks added to their strings to give the instrument a more percussive sound. We have composed tracks in various tempos and keys that are reminiscent of the saloon piano from the 19th century.
